The Rome Marathon is according to a survey by Runner’s World Italy, the most loved by Italians
The finishers of the 22nd edition was 13,881. It’s the second best result ever reached in Italy (14,875 is the record set at the 2014 Rome Marathon). A number that raises the 42K of the capital in first place in Italy. Specifically 11,104 men and 2,777 women arrived at the finish line, and it’s even an absolute record.
The first place in Italy is also given by the number of Italian participants, 8,354, and participants from foreign, 5,527 from 114 nations. Whereas the participants of the Fun Run 4 kilometers were over 50,000, the last April 10th race saw 65,000 people running in Rome. As has been happening for several years, the Rome Marathon also confirms the fastest of Italy. The Kenyan Amos Kipruto won the 22th edition with the time 2:08:12, establishing the best annual performance in Italy.
The two best performances ever in Italy have always been reached in Rome (2009, Benjamin Kiptoo, 2: 17.7 – 2008, Galina Bogomolva, 2:22:53). We should also mention the time trial with which Alex Zanardi won his fifth Rome Marathon in hand bikes: 1:09:15.
The record numbers are added the consents of the national and international media runner. According to a recent survey by Runner’s World Italy, the Rome Marathon is the most loved by Italians. The prestigious US business magazine Forbes, however, this year has included the Rome Marathon among the 12 best races in the world. Recently, finally, the prestigious British newspaper The Telegraph, has included it among the top 10 reasons why you should visit Rome in 2017.
