Cristiano Ronaldo is the richest athlete on the planet

action-1834465_1280According to the annual ranking by Forbes magazine, Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest paid athlete in the world of the 2016. This season he has gained, in fact, well-$ 88 million, surpassing the couple Tiger Woods / Floyd Mayweather Jr, polar star of the list in the last 16 seasons.

The Real player is the first player to be awarded this recognition and is the second member of a team sport after Michael Jordan to be at the top. In this way Ronaldo has surpassed even his eternal rival Barcelona Leo Messi who remained at 81.4 million and the brilliant LeBron James of the NBA that is third with 77.4 million.

The magazine has compiled this particular classification taking account of all receipts, both those derived from millionaires contracts signed with the club, from the various sponsorships of each individual athlete, going to the wealthy individual prize pool of the tournaments for sports such as tennis or golf.

Rounding out the top 5, the Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, who is, with 60 million of the 67.8 total earnings, the most ever paid by sponsors, in front of Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder with 56.2 million. Novak Djokovic, former No. 1 ATP is sixth with 56 million while Andy Murray, in the top of the tennis rankings is just 74th with 23 million.

Only two women in the top100, both tennis players Serena Williams with 29 million, and Maria Sharapova with 21.9 million, despite the disqualification for doping.
