aprile-shiffrin-inglMikaela Pauline Shiffrin (born March 13, 1995) is an American World Cup alpine ski racer with the U.S. Ski Team, specializing in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom.

Five days after her 22nd birthday (March 18, 2017), Mikaela Shiffrin, the EagleVail phenom, became the youngest to win the World Cup overall title since 2003, finishing second in a slalom in front of a jubilant crowd waving American flags and posters bearing her name.

Since the inception of the World Cup ski tour in 1967, five Americans have won the “overall” season title that goes to the racer who scores the most points across all five of the alpine disciplines (slalom, giant slalom, downhill, super-G and combined):
