Career In 2005 he passes to the Army Sports Centre. In 2006 he won the Italian Championships on 10000 m floors, reconfirming in 2007 when he also won the 5000 meter dash. Also in 2006, the European Championships in Gothenburg, he comes 10th on 10000 m. In 2007 he won the bronze medal in the 10,000 meter dash at the U23 European Championship in Debrecen. Immediately after the race he has an altercation with a manager FIDAL and in October the Commission judgmental national disqualification for six months the athlete Tuscan and inhibits for eighteen months his coach Luigi Principato for unsportsmanlike conduct. A month after the disqualification it is reduced four months and it is canceled inhibition borne coach. In 2008 he became Italian champion also on the distance of 3000 m indoor floors (in which will be repeated in 2009), in addition to win back the title on 5000 m. July 27, 2010 he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Barcelona in the 10000 meter dash with a time of 28'27 "33, identical to the one hundredth of second placed Chris Thompson. In March 2011, he gets a disappointing second lowest in the European Indoor Championships in Paris on the distance of 3000 m; always in this year he opts for a technical change, from Luigi Principato to Massimo Magnani and in June he arrived on 7th place at 10 km Trophy City of Telese Terme. April 30, 2012 he ranks fourth in the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational with his new personal best of 27'32 "86, which takes him from ninth to fourth place in the rankings Italian all-time of 10,000 meters, overtaking Marco Mazza, Stefano Baldini Stefano Mei, Franco Fava and Alberto Cova and behind only to Venanzio Ortis (27'31 "48), Francesco Panetta (27'24" 16) and the record holder Italian Salvatore Antibo (27'16 "50).

The March 17, 2013 took second place at the New York City Half Marathon in 1h01'06 establishing "its lead on the half marathon distance. On 3 November the same year it ranks tenth in the New York Marathon with a time of 2h12'03 "new personal best over the distance.
The August 17, 2014 he won the gold medal at the European Athletics Championships with a time of 2h11'08".
